The Indian Ladakh, north-western foothills of the Tibetan plateau, and between the Himalayas in the south and the Karakorum in the north is one of the most fascinating and highest of all destinations for mountain bikers. Nowhere else on earth can you cycle over more extreme heights than in the "land of high passes." The spectacular bike tour takes us in a wide "eight" through the mountain deserts to the mystical lake Tso Moriri (4530 m) with its unreal blue water surface, on dusty tracks over the pass Polo Kongka (4920 m), past the deserted Tso Kar-See and back over the Taglang La (5330 m), further on Wari La (5250 m) or Chang La (5360 m) over to the eastern Shyok Valley to the conquest of the highest road pass in the world, the Khardung La with 5370 m altitude! A special region in the northern Himalayas with the culture and charm of ancient Tibet, pure soul riding on dusty jeep slopes across the mystical plain with monasteries and oases. Technically simple terrain at very high altitude and partly off-road, ideal only for adventurous, sporty bikers with touring experience and of very good physical condition.
