Tibet, autonomous region in western China, inner Asia, borders on the south with Nepal and west with India and Pakistan, mostly north of the Transhimalaya, forms the borderline mostly over highest summits, no runoff highlands (mean height 4500m) to the Tanggula Shan and Kunlun Shan, with desert stretches and numerous salt lakes, destination and main cultivation area, is the southern Tibetan long valley furrow between Transhimalaya and Himalaya, eastern Tibet rugged fan-shaped highlands. 

The Tibet Autonomous Region's membership of the People's Republic of China is controversial among the general public, even though there is no state worldwide that officially questions this at the diplomatic and political levels.
