Trek Summary:

Rara Lake trek is one of the beautiful trekking destinations in Nepal. The main attraction of this trek is the wilderness of nature, high altitude Rara Lake, and the people of this region. Most of the trek is done through the forest of pine, juniper tree with various numbers of wildlife.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu:  Pick up from airport and drop in hotel included. Accommodation in 3 star level hotels with Breakfast included. We will provide brief info about Nepal and trekkings in Nepal.

Day 2: City tour and Trek Preparation: If you are time bound then we can escape this day and take Flight (Domestic Flight to Nepalgunj). Otherwise you can make City tour on your own (We can also provide City tour with guide but it will increase the trek package price. We will surely provide all information on which sites to visit, how to reach there, Entry fees to the site and what to try in those areas). Kathmandu valley is beautiful valley with Temples, Stupas, Monasteries, Durbar Square (Palace), UNESCO listed World Heritage Sites. We will make trek preparation, get introduce with the guide, buy/rent trekking gears.

Day 3: Flight to Nepalgunj: With 1 hr flight from Kathmandu with scenic view of diverse land topography of Nepal we will reach at Nepalgunj and spend rest of the day exploring Nepalgunj city and rest.

Day 4: Flight to Jumla (2340m): 20 mins flight from Nepalgunj will take us to Jumla. Jumla is beautiful valley and gateway to the remote areas of Karnali. Most of the foods are transported via flight to Jumla, so the cost in these regions goes up. Paddy is cultivated here and it is not enough to meet the demand.

Day 5: Trek to Danphe Lagna (3500m): With around 6 hrs trek from Jumla we will reach to Danphe Lagna. Trekking on the trail with forests of spruces, birches, rhododendrons, uphill downhill, crossing passes, pasture lands with great view of Patrasi Himal (6860m), Jagdula Himal (5785m), Danphe (Himalayan Monal: national bird of Nepal).

Day 6: Trek to Chauta (2770m): Halfway trail of Jumla to Rara. Descending/ascending trail, trekking through the forest of fir, bamboo, rock of Shilajit (medicine to cure the pain, body parts), great view of remote villages and beautiful sceneries.

Overnight Altitude: 2770m

Trek Hours: 5 hrs

Day 7: Trek to Pina (2400m): Entry to Rara National Park from Bhulbhule. Trekking trail filled with prayers flag, chortens, cairns, forests, different species of flora and fauna with great view of mountains as well as crossing the high pass at Guruchi Lagna (3540m).

Overnight Altitude: 2400m

Day 8: Trek to Rara Lake (2980m): Finally we will reach to Rara lake on this day, the largest lake of Nepal and lake of lakes. Uphill trek, crossing stream river, through the cedar forest, climbing the ridge with good view of lake.

Overnight Altitude: 2980m

Trek Hours: 4 hrs

Day 9: Explore Rara Lake: Rest well, explore the beauty of Rara Lake and its surroundings, enjoy your day in the wilderness of the beautiful place.

Day 10: Trek to Ghorasain (3271m): Trekking through dense forest of pines, birches, spruce and rhododendron, crossing meadwos at ridge of 3660m, with spectacular view of snowcapped mountains, beautiful valley.

Overnight Altitude: 3271m

Trek Hours: 4 hrs

Day 11: Trek to Sinja (2440m): Sinja Valley is also one of the most beautiful valley in this region, capital city of Malla Dynasty, we can see the palace too, rich in beautiful sceneries.

Day 12: Trek to Chere Chaur (2900m): Trek through dense forest, great views of flora and fauna, barley fields, grazing lands.

Overnight Altitude: 2900m

Day 13: Trek to Jumla: By following this itinerary we will make round trek of Jumla region, our return trail is different but we meet at Jumla from where we started the trek.

Day 14: Flight to Nepalgunj to Kathmandu.

Day 15: Rest Day

Day 16: Return Flight

Accommodation: Accommodation in 3 star hotel levels in Kathmandu and Pokhara. During the trek accommodation will be in tea houses/mountain lodges. All accommodation are served on twin sharing basis, single supplement will increase the price. But for the trek booked on single basis, you will be served on single supplement. During the trek during peak season it might be difficult to find room available on single basis.

Meals: Breakfast is included during the stay in Kathmandu and Pokhara as per itinerary. During the trek we will provide breakfast, Lunch and Dinner serving tea 2-3 times as well as fresh fruits per day as per itinerary. There will be farewell dinner as well as souvenir from us.

Physical Conditions & Experiences: No such experience need for this trek as well as you should be physical fit as this trek involves hiking through the forest, stoned paved path and need to hike for 6 hrs per day. Every age group person can do this trek.

Season for trekking: Can be done in all months, best time to trek is Mid-February to Mid-June and Mid-September to Mid-December. June to September is monsoon season and December to February is cold season. Peak season for trekking is October and November.

  • Personal Expenses such as internet, laundry, telephone, battery charging etc: Internet is available on per hour basis, the network connectivity can be good as well as poor some days.

Note: This trek package can be customized as per your need, covering all expenses from arrival up-to departure. More person in a group helps to reduce the trek package as some of the cost can be distributed upon number of person. Such as guide cost remains same if you are travelling alone or with 4 other persons.

Bring represents bring that item from your country as the price for branded good will be same whether you buy from Nepal or your country. Buy represents buy in Nepal. Some items can be found cheaply in Nepal but expect it to be not as good quality as you expect. Some items are used just for trekking for such item buy in Nepal (Kathmandu/Pokhara). For renting we can rent in Kathmandu/Pokhara depending upon the trek.
